Assistant Professor, B.Sc., Ph.D.

Derrick obtained his B.Sc., Honors at McGill University in Microbiology and Immunology. He subsequently completed a Ph.D. in Experimental Medicine at the University of Alberta focusing on innate immunity receptors in the lab of Dean Befus. In 2006, he joined the laboratory of Olivier Voinnet at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in Strasbourg, France to study the biology of microRNA. In 2010, he moved with the laboratory of Olivier Voinnet to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH-Z). He has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine since August 2012.

Lab Manager

Annie holds a M.Sc in Neuroscience (McGill U.) and has both industrial and academic experience. She has a broad range of interests, icluding science, medicine, psychology, writing, driving, exercising and cooking.

As a Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, she believes that (1) Life is full of happiness and fun and (2) People working hard in science can have fun too.

Ph.D. candidate

Maneka is an international graduate student from India currently pursuing her Ph.D. Her research focuses on clearance of RNA granules by autophagy.
